He is the one with Alpha Lima Sierra. She is the wife that loves him dearly and the little he in the family is the miracle boy. He and she married in 1990 on the island of Guam when she was just 20 years old and he was a young Airman of 21. Their love story has had many chapters but this chapter may be the last. That’s because Alpha Lima Sierra has no cure (yet) and there is no medication that will significantly extend life beyond a few months. We hope with increased awareness, increased funding and researchers/pharmaceutical companies that are willing to share their knowledge with each other a cure will become available so he and she can continue their love story beyond this chapter.
This site is to share with family and friends how they are doing both physically and emotionally in hopes to help raise the awareness and funds that are needed for Alpha Lima Sierra to be a curable/manageable disease and not a terminal one.

Tom, I love you so very much. The best boss in history, and the second man I respect the most on this planet. You and your family are in my prayers daily. I don’t know where to share info, but thru speaking with patient advocates at the VA, I have learned full time caregivers to disabled veterans can receive some sort of compensation. It is no substitute for a career, but it may offer some little help of financial support.
Tom, Do you know where I can find information about the symptoms that we should be aware of and bring to the Doctor’s attention if seen? I have had Nerve damage issues since 2006 but this last year I have had new issues come up….and I hope it is just a new way for the old spinal arthritis to suck, but sticking my head in the sand and hoping it is not serious is not a way to fight something that is hurting me and especially my family.
My prayers for you and your family, I pray the Lord will provide the Doctors with the knowledge and skills to treat and cure that which strikes my Brothers. I pray that the Lord will grant you courage and strength and fill your heart with His Love that all around you might be Blessed!

You can find information on the ALS Associations website. Mine started off as weakness in my hand. I have heard others mention not being steady on their feet. ALS is a diagnosis of elimination and sometimes it can take months to rule out everything.
